Mindfulness in Business and At Work presented by Newton Community Education

Tara Healey HeadshotNewton Community Education (NCE) is once again offering a series of experiential presentations by leading practitioners of Mindfulness. Interest in Mindfulness continues to grow in our area; over the past three years NCE’s Mindfulness program has become the most attended program in its history.

Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce Members are invited to join NCE for this spring’s series, which will focus on the role of Mindfulness practice in the daily activity of work. This is a new and very exciting area of interest in today’s business community. Whether you work in a retail or corporate setting or at home on your own, you are no doubt confronted by similar challenges: communication breakdowns, the inability to focus, reactivity, and multiple simultaneous demands on your time. Work today demands improved performance yet with fewer resources, tighter deadlines, and stressed co-workers and customers. This combination can lead to burnout and is bad for business. You cannot control your stressors at work, but can learn to manage your responses to them.

Not only are the health benefits of Mindfulness practice well documented, but more than 30 years of research has shown that Mindfulness can support us in working effectively and efficiently with challenges at work too. Come join us for our spring series, and learn who is doing it, how it’s done, and what it means for you.

Our presenters will share how the programs they have developed and conducted at over 50 organizations including Google, Monsanto, Sun Life, Harvard University Health Services, the US Army, and National Grid, have yielded very favorable responses. Participants have reported reduced stress, increased productivity, and openness to creative problem solving. Most importantly, participants felt their relationships improved with Mindfulness practice, and they reported greater awareness of emotions in themselves and others. Mindfulness is equally applicable to small businesses and individual workers.
