Most Influential Business People of Color

Founder of a new church in Newton that seeks to draw in people who are unhappy in their faith journeys, Rev. Scott is known for his energy, leadership, community building, and commitment to social and racial justice. A relative newcomer to the Boston area, he has conveyed his interest in faith, music, and youth activism through an inspirational event he organized in July 2020 known as “Hope is Rising,” a free drive-in concert and discussion with an emphasis on anti-racism and a celebration of Black culture. With his unique experience as a diversity trainer, bioethicist, and pastor, he is described as a “force for change in the city.” He joined the Newton Interfaith Clergy Association and is on the board of Newton’s Foundation for Ethnic, Racial and Religious Harmony (also known as the Harmony Foundation) where he is instrumental in helping to plan Newton’s annual MLK Day Celebration and the Mayor’s Community Breakfast.
