Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham has just announced the creation of the Healthcare Heroes Fund. 100% of contributions to the Healthcare Heroes Fund will be used to provide essential resources to BID Needham employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the following priorities.
- Free meals for staff and clinicians, provided during their shift through The Trotman Family Glover Café and before/after their shift with gift cards to local restaurants in collaboration with #RallyforRestaurants
- Childcare assistance for staff and clinicians to subsidize backup childcare needed due to the disruption of work, daycare and school schedules
- Transportation assistance for staff incurring additional costs related to MBTA schedule changes and the suspension of hospital shuttle services
- Funding unforeseen investments such as equipment to enable the practice of telemedicine, limiting clinician exposure to COVID-19, and to support both clinicians and staff working remotely
