Needham merchants will kick off the fall by bringing back a once-popular Needham tradition:a sidewalk sale.
Fifteen downtown merchants have signed up to host a sidewalk sale on Sat. Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The merchants have banded together to organize the sale with the hopes of spreading the word that Needham has become “a thriving destination to dine and shop,” said Karen Loughery, co-owner of Proud Mary, one of the businesses that helped organize the event.
“Every participating small business owner in Needham is excited to showcase their products during the sidewalk sale,” said Loughery. “We hope that the Needham community comes down to shop local, take advantage of these great deals or discover new stores. There will be something for everyone on the first Saturday after Labor Day.”
The Needham Sidewalk Sale includes local businesses located on Great Plain Avenue, Chapel Street, Highland Avenue and Chestnut Street and is a great way for residents to “ease back from the summer, pick up a bargain, grab something to eat and show your support for our downtown businesses,” said Newton-Needham Chamber President Greg Reibman.
“Events like the sidewalk sale are meant to show community support for our local businesses-the one way we can enhance our town center is for people to patronize the locally owned businesses,” added John Bulian, chair of the Needham Select Board.
